Thomas Edison Secret Lab is an animated educational series that is meant to teach kids about science and innovation. Season 1 episode 107, titled "A Golden Opportunity", follows the adventures of Angie, JD, Kent, Nicky, and Von Bolt as they attempt to solve a mystery involving a golden statue.
The episode begins with the gang receiving a message from their friend, Karl, who works at the Smithsonian Museum. He tells them that someone has stolen a golden statue from the museum, and that he needs their help in solving the case.
The gang arrives at the Smithsonian, where Karl shows them the empty pedestal where the statue used to be. He tells them that the statue was made from solid gold and that it is worth millions of dollars. He also shows them surveillance footage of the museum from the night of the theft, but nobody can be seen stealing the statue.
The gang decides to investigate the museum in order to find any clues that may lead them to the thief. They split up into two groups, with JD and Kent going to the security room to examine the footage further, and Angie, Nicky, and Von Bolt searching the rest of the museum for any unusual activity.
JD and Kent discover that the surveillance camera closest to the pedestal has been tampered with and that there are no other cameras pointing in that direction. They suspect that the thief used a laser to cut through the glass casing that surrounded the statue and then quickly grabbed it.
Meanwhile, Angie, Nicky, and Von Bolt find a set of footprints in the Egyptian exhibit. They follow the footprints, which lead them to a hidden room filled with golden artifacts. They also find a diary in the room, which describes how the artifacts were stolen from Egypt and brought to the United States in the early 1900s.
The diary also mentions a mysterious organization called "The Golden Ones" who are trying to collect all of the golden artifacts in the world. The gang realizes that The Golden Ones may be behind the theft of the statue from the museum.
JD and Kent join the others in the hidden room, and they all decide to set a trap for The Golden Ones. They place a fake golden statue on the pedestal and wait for the thief to return. Sure enough, a masked figure breaks into the museum and attempts to steal the fake statue.
The gang confronts the thief, who turns out to be Karl, their friend from the Smithsonian. Karl explains that he had been working with The Golden Ones in order to steal the real statue from the museum.
Karl believed that the statue deserved to be in the hands of The Golden Ones, who he believed were the rightful owners of all of the world's golden artifacts. However, after talking with the gang, Karl realizes that stealing is never the right solution and that the statue belongs in a museum where everyone can appreciate it.
In the end, Karl turns himself into the police and returns the stolen statue to the Smithsonian. The gang is hailed as heroes for solving the case, and they all learn an important lesson about the value of honesty and integrity. The episode ends with a preview of their next adventure, leaving viewers excited for what's to come.
