In What We Do in the Shadows season 2 episode 9, titled "Witches," the comedy series follows the vampires once again as they deal with more supernatural beings. This time, they come across a group of witches who are causing trouble in Staten Island.
The episode starts with Nandor, Laszlo, and Nadja trying to figure out a way to defeat the witches. They have been cursed and are unable to leave their house, meaning they can't attend the annual vampire orgy. The witches' curse has also made them forget Guillermo, who is now invisible to them. Meanwhile, Colin Robinson has gained a new power, which makes him more powerful than the vampires.
Nandor, Laszlo, and Nadja turn to a powerful sorcerer named Wallace to help them break the witches' curse. Wallace is a strange man who lives in the woods and makes potions. He agrees to help the vampires, but only if they can bring him a rare ingredient, the tail of a virginal cat.
The vampires embark on a mission to find a virginal cat, but they soon discover that their definition of a virginal cat is a bit off. They end up with a bunch of regular cats, and Colin Robinson's new power comes in handy. He can drain the energy from people and things, which he uses to suck the virginity out of a cat. Once they have the tail, they return to Wallace, who makes a potion to break the witches' curse.
However, things don't go according to plan. The potion has a side effect, which turns the vampires into cats. They are unable to go to the vampire orgy, and Guillermo is left alone with the witches the whole night. He discovers that they are not as bad as the vampires think, and they've been cursed by a vengeful woman named Susan. Susan had been hurt by one of the witches, and she cursed them to get her revenge.
The vampires eventually turn back to their human form, and they come up with a plan to help the witches. They confront Susan and convince her to lift the curse. The witches are grateful and invite the vampires to their own orgy.
The episode is a hilarious take on the classic vampire and witch rivalry. The comedy is as sharp as ever, and the writing is clever. The characters are well-written and lovable, and the show manages to balance the humor with a genuine heart. Fans of the first season will rejoice in finding the same level of quality in the second season. The show is a must-watch for anyone who loves horror-comedy or supernatural shows in general.
