In 500 Words or Less is a 2009 documentary film about high school students going through the process of preparing for and applying to college. It follows the hurdles that students must go through including difficult application tests, unrelenting tours of schools, confusing college fairs and more. One of the rites of passage that students must go through is to complete a personal essay. It is an important element in getting accepted to their favorite school. The documentary takes a close look at how students examine their own lives in order to produce the best essay and hopefully gain admission into the school of their dreams.
