Rolling Kansas is a comedy-adventure film that was written by the creator of That '70s Show, Mark Brazil, and was directed by Thomas Haden Church. The movie tells the story of five friends, Dinkadoo Murphy (James Roday Rodriguez), Neil King (Sam Huntington), Kevin Haub (Jay Paulson), Eric Stoltz (Charlie Finn) and Hunter Bullette (Ryan McDow), who embark on a road trip to find their fortune in a field of marijuana located in Kansas.

The film begins with Neil receiving a cryptic message from his father telling him that he left him something that would change his life. When Neil and his friends arrive home, they find a map that leads to a hidden field of marijuana in Kansas, which is believed to be the best there is. However, there is a catch to getting to the field. They have to find a way to navigate through the small towns filled with law enforcement and avoid getting caught. So the five friends decide to embark on a road trip to find the field of marijuana, hoping to get there without any trouble.

As the friends traverse through the small towns of Kansas, they encounter a variety of obstacles and experiences. For instance, they come across Seth (Thomas Haden Church), a paranoid and eccentric hippie who tries to scam them by selling them a fake map. But they quickly see through his scam and take off when he tries to convince them to join his drug-induced commune.

The group also has to navigate past a group of police officers who are on a drug enforcement mission. They also end up meeting up with a pair of sisters who offer to guide them through the towns in exchange for a cut in the profits. However, they realize very quickly that the sisters are really just trying to use them to get their hands on the field themselves.

The film contains a lot of humorous situations, primarily resulting from the apparent lack of experience within the group. They make amateurish attempts at drug production, and their journey across America in a battered old van makes for some hilarious scenes. The film also touches on several heartwarming moments as the five friends address and confront their individual personal demons.

Overall, Rolling Kansas is a light-hearted and fun movie that is perfect for a relaxed evening. The cast of actors did a great job in their respective roles and there were many memorable moments spread throughout the film. While not a box office smash or particularly memorable outside of it’s target audience, the movie still stands up as an amusing watch that still manages to feel entertaining after nearly 20 years.

Rolling Kansas is a 2002 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 29 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.0.
