Watch the New Leaked 'The Dark Knight Rises' Trailer

Morning, all! Start your day off right, with "The Dark Knight!"

The trailer you see below was supposed to debut preceding this weekend's Harry Potter grand finale "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2." But as it happens, this teaser for "The Dark Knight Rises" matches descriptions leaked by European projectionists who have seen it make the rounds in theaters abroad. It's bootleg footage, but stay tuned for a higher-quality version coming probably later this week.

It's a little bittersweet, though, seeing it trumpeted as "The epic conclusion to The Dark Knight legend." It's a little depressing, the way these directors who can bring comic book legends to life on the big screen and do them justice rarely stick around more than a few films.

Tim Burton was run off by Warner Bros. so that they could bat one-for-two with Joel Schumacher's more colorful and campy Batman. Richard Donner made it barely through two "Superman" movies, and never really did "finish" the second one; his cut was later released on DVD years after the fact. Bryan Singer hit "X-Men" out of the park twice, but then left the conclusion to be resolved incompetently by Brett Ratner while Singer churned out one of the worst "Superman" movies to date.

Still, give Nolan this: he's walking away on his terms, ending the series exactly where he wanted to end it, and how he wants it concluded. Even the "Harry Potter" franchise has burned through a few helmsmen since Chris Columbus directed the first two.
