Mana Mana! Listen to 'The Muppets' Tribute 'The Green Album'

Update and Correction: While it has been widely reported throughout the media that "The Green Album" was the soundtrack for "The Muppets," according to Disney, that's not the case.

Disney sent us this note:

"Wanted to let you know The Green Album is not the soundtrack for the movie — this is a tribute compilation.  None of the songs from The Green Album appear in the forthcoming movie.  (The official motion picture soundtrack will be released November 22nd.)"

So apparently no Weezer or Andrew Bird on the soundtrack at all. Major bummer.

Original Article:

Just about everything we've heard or seen so far surrounding the "The Muppets" has been just plain terrific. The promos have been awesome, the posters have been cool, and the new movie even features a woka woka version of "The Rainbow Connection" by the bona fide geeks from Weezer!

The official soundtrack for "The Muppets," "The Green Album," gets released August 23rd, but NPR has been kind enough to stream the whole album for us. This makes the lovers, the dreamers and me very very happy.

Featuring tracks from OK Go, Alkaline Trio, and My Morning Jacket, it's pretty hip stuff, but chockful of moments bound to make kids of all ages smile.

Give it a good listen, but beware, the version of "Mana Mana" from The Fray will get stuck in your head all day, and Andrew Bird's "Bein' Green" might just make you weep green tears of froggy joy.

Listen to the soundtrack to "The Muppets."
