The Steve Jobs Biopic: Who Should Play the Apple CEO?

The authorized biography of Steve Jobs is on its way to bookshelves, and Sony Pictures has already made sure that the feature film rights are in its hands.

So, now what?

It'll be interesting to see whom Sony selects to write and direct the film (Aaron Sorkin please!), but equally intriguing is the question of who will play Jobs in the biopic.

We've already seen Noah Wyle play the role in the made-for-TV movie "The Pirates of Silicon Valley," but it's unlikely that the "Falling Skies" star will be taking the role for a project of this magnitude (though you never know!).

So, who would be the best choice to play Jobs in the new movie?

We've got a few suggestions below:

Ralph Fiennes

If you want someone older to play younger when necessary, Ralph Fiennes would be a great choice. With Fiennes' angular features, he could be made to look like Jobs pretty easily. Plus, Fiennes is truly one of the best actors out there right now, and considering Jobs' rumored range from benevolent, supportive boss to angry, berating boss, Fiennes would be able to cover all the bases.

Daniel Day Lewis

Not gonna happen, but come on, this guy can play anybody. Buzz his head, give him a salt and pepper beard, and put him in a black turtleneck, and you've got yourself a Steve Jobs. Problem is, he'll want to live in Cupertino for six months or something to prepare. Also, he does a movie every what, ten years? Good luck finding him and getting him to sign on for this one.

Ryan Gosling

If you're focusing on Jobs' earlier like and need someone younger, Gosling could pull it off. He's proven himself to be very talented, and with a little adjustment he could look the part closely enough (hey, Jesse Eisenberg didn't look exactly like Mark Zuckerberg in "The Social Network" either). However, he might be a little too low-key for this particular role. But Gosling has seemingly been in every movie this year, so his buzz-o-meter is through the roof. Ryan Gosling is a name that could potentially fill seats better than any other on this list.

Bradley Cooper

As long as we're on the handsome train, Bradley Cooper could fit the look as well. Cooper might not be at the same level dramatically as the rest of these guys, but you never know when an actor will surprise you. The other bonus with Cooper is that he would be easier to be made older or younger as needed, since he's in the middle age-wise.

Bryan Cranston

Maybe I've just been seeing him with a shaved head and beard a lot lately, but doesn't Cranston look like he could pull it off? Heck, even if they can make him look kinda like Steve, they'd have a great actor on their hands. Cranston's work in "Breaking Bad" and, more recently, "Drive" and "Contagion" has proved that he's not just the dad from "Malcolm in the Middle." He can do drama, and he can do it well enough to star in a feature film. It's time.

Other Look-Alikes With No Chance:

Believe it or not, both Ashton Kutcher and comedian Demetri Martin bear a striking resemblance to a young Steve Jobs. However, though Kutcher has proven good with comedy, I doubt he has the range to take a role like this one. Doubly so for Martin.
