The Stabilizer is an action-packed Indonesian film from 1986 starring Peter O'Brian as Peter Goldson, a former CIA agent turned mercenary who has been hired to stop a dangerous criminal known as Greg Rainmaker (played by Craig Gavin). The film opens with a thrilling car chase as Rainmaker's gang tries to escape from the police. Meanwhile, Goldson is introduced as a suave and tough agent who is summoned to help take down Rainmaker. Goldson and his team of mercenaries are known for their ability to "stabilize" any situation, hence his nickname.

The plot thickens when Rainmaker kidnaps a scientist and demands a ransom for his release. Goldson and his team are sent in to rescue the scientist and put an end to Rainmaker's criminal enterprise. However, things get complicated when Goldson's ex-girlfriend Lia (played by Gillie Beanz) is also taken hostage by Rainmaker.

As Goldson and his team hunt down Rainmaker and his henchmen, they encounter numerous obstacles and challenges, ranging from high-speed boat chases to intense gun battles. Yet, the heart of the film lies in the explosive fight scenes. The filmmakers take full advantage of O'Brian's background in martial arts, choreographing impressive hand-to-hand combat sequences that showcase his skill and agility.

The film also features a memorable cast of characters, including Goldson's rough-and-tumble team of mercenaries and Rainmaker's loyal but deadly associates. One standout performance comes from Beanz, who portrays Lia with a fierce determination that matches Goldson's own tenacity.

Despite its low budget, The Stabilizer manages to deliver plenty of thrills and excitement. The plot moves at a brisk pace, never slowing down for more than a few minutes at a time. The film also has a distinct '80s aesthetic, complete with synthesizer-heavy music and bold neon colors.

However, The Stabilizer is certainly not without its flaws. The dialogue can be clunky at times, and some of the special effects (such as the explosions) are clearly lacking. The plot is also fairly predictable, with few surprises along the way.

Despite these shortcomings, The Stabilizer remains a cult classic among action movie fans. O'Brian's star power and martial arts prowess make for an entertaining watch, and the film's high-octane action sequences are as thrilling today as they were in 1986.

The Stabilizer is a 1984 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.2.
