The Breed is a science fiction thriller that takes place in the near future on an alternative planet. On this planet, vampires make up half the population, but only the socialist government knows of their existence. These are genetically mutated vampires, and because of these mutations approximately 20 percent of the human population is immune and cannot be transformed. Detective Stephen Grant and his partner are called out to investigate a series of bizarre murders that are erupting all over. Just as they arrive at the latest crime scene, his partner is confronted and killed almost instantly. As he turns his gun on the attacker and fires, it seems like the bullets just go right through him. After a hand-to-hand scuffle, Grant gets thrown through a window, and his attacker flees by rappelling up a wall. Back at the station, Grant reports the strange incident, and his superiors aren’t surprised. They then introduce him to an officer who is going to be helping solve the case. Grant discovers that Aaron Gray isn’t an ordinary officer. He is actually a vampire, and they have been living on the planet and planning to integrate their species with the human race. It seems that the serial killer is a vampire, and they want to help aid in the capture. With no trust between the vampires and humans, the humans have created a virus that will kill vampires but not humans, in case the coexistence becomes strained. On the other side, the elder vampires have developed a plan to annihilate the human race if they refuse to become vampires. The vampires believe that there will always be conflict if the races remain separate. There is a militant group of vampires that will stop at nothing in order to start a world war, even if it means killing innocent humans. Grant and Aaron now must race against the clock to put an end to the killings and restore world peace. With hidden agendas, deception and betrayal, it is hard to decide who is willing to help them and who is encouraging the end of society.
