FX: 'Wilfred' and 'Louie' Renewed, 'Always Sunny' Strikes a Deal

It's a good time to be a comedy on the FX network. It was announced today that two young shows on the network have been picked up for another season: "Wilfred," which stars Elijah Wood and Jason Gann, and "Louie," which stars Louis C.K.

"Wilfred" is a freshman show, and will be back for a second season next summer. The comedy, which is based on an Australian show and has the high-concept premise of a man who sees his neighbor's dog as a human in a dog suit, has become the highest-rated freshman show on the network, with an average of about 5 million viewers each week.

"Louie" is in its second season, and though it got robbed of a "Best Comedy" Emmy nomination, the Emmy voters were at least smart enough to nominate its star, comedian Louis C.K., for a "Best Actor in a Comedy Series" Emmy.

"Louie" will be returning for a third season, and had better get a damned nomination next year. Seriously.

FX's longest-running comedy, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," struck an even better deal. RCG, the "Sunny" production company built by "Sunny" stars Rob McElhenny, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton, has agreed to a three-year deal with the network...so we should see lots more "Sunny" as well as some other shows from RCG, including the upcoming animated series "Townies."
