A young couple, Melanie and Dan, are two lovers who are in a wonderful relationship. One night, Mel drives drunk back to Dan's house. After Dan berates her for being reckless, Mel angrily pushes him and accidentally gives him a head wound. At the hospital, Dan covers for Mel and lies about he got his injury. At his job, Dan's co-worker notices his head wound and points out what the situation would have been like if Mel got the head injury. One night, Mel's friends suggest that they watch a porn film and Dan later catches her doing so. A few nights later, Dan and Mel go to a pool party. After Mel leaves, Dan shares a kiss with Amanda which he apologizes. Mel sees a text from Aamnda on Dan's phone regarding the kiss. The two of them start fighting and Dan subdues to Mel by holding her to the ground.

When the police show up, they misread the situation and arrest Dan. He is later released but doesn't want to talk with Mel. While at a bar, Dan tells Amanda that he and Mel are taking a break from seeing each other. Dan and Mel later to go to Houston to help Mel's mom move out of Mel's old home. Dan and meets with his mom later and she tells him to accept the new job offer. After two more altercations, Mel tells Dan that he should accept the job offer and that they should break up and see other people.
