Alexandria is a heart-wrenching drama that tells the story of two brothers, Alif and Kai, who are content with their simple lives in the small fishing town of Cilacap, Indonesia. However, when their mother suddenly falls ill, they are forced to move to Jakarta to seek medical treatment. This move results in a rollercoaster of events that tests the strength of their brotherly bond.

The two brothers move to a new city with nothing but hope and the promise of a better life. They start their journey by enrolling in school and quickly learn about the harsh realities of living in a big city. They are bullied by their classmates and struggle to adapt to the new environment. Despite the obstacles, Alif and Kai remain positive and determined to succeed.

As they start to adjust to their new lives, the brothers come across a flyer that advertises a breakdancing competition with a large cash prize. Alif, who has always been passionate about dance, sees this as an opportunity to turn their fortunes around. The two brothers team up with a group of street dancers, and together they form a formidable crew determined to win the competition.

Throughout the movie, we see the bond between the two brothers grow stronger as they face challenges together. Alif and Kai are forced to make tough decisions, navigate complex relationships and deal with the emotional burden of their mother's illness. Despite the odds, they remain steadfast in their pursuit of happiness.

One of the standout performances in the movie is by Julie Estelle who plays the role of Sarah, a love interest of Alif. She delivers a subtle yet powerful performance, bringing depth and complexity to her character. Marcel Chandrawinata's portrayal of Kai is equally impressive. His character is often the voice of reason and the moral compass of the story, and he brings a sense of authenticity to the role.

The film's director, Nan Achnas, does an excellent job of capturing the gritty and vibrant atmosphere of Jakarta. She shows us the stark contrast between the rich and poor, the traditional and the modern, the beauty and the ugliness of the city. Her use of music, particularly during the dance scenes, adds a layer of energy and excitement to the movie.

Overall, Alexandria is a touching story of two brothers and their journey to find themselves in a new and challenging environment. It is a heartfelt drama filled with powerful performances and moments of both joy and sadness. The movie teaches us the importance of family, friendship, and perseverance, and leaves a lasting impression on the viewer.
