Amateur Hitman is a 2018 comedy thriller directed by Stanley M. Brooks and produced by Daniel Posada. The film stars Luis Avilez and Joel-Ryan Armamento as the lead characters, with supporting roles played by Vannessa Vasquez, Jonny Ortiz, and Jeremy Fernandez. The movie revolves around a Colombian hitman named Alex (Luis Avilez) who decides to start his own assassin-for-hire business in Queens, New York after realizing his potential to make more money than working for a drug lord.

Alex is not your typical hitman. He is a man who values his work and takes pride in his craft. He has never killed an innocent person and only performs jobs that are morally justifiable in his mind. However, he is not very skilled at what he does, and his first few attempts at taking out his targets are clumsy and almost comical.

Things start to change for Alex when he meets his new neighbor, Maria (Vannessa Vasquez), a young woman who is struggling to make ends meet while taking care of her sick mother. Alex takes pity on her and decides to offer his services to her for a discount. Maria takes a liking to Alex and starts to help him with his business, by putting up flyers around the neighborhood and connecting him with potential clients.

Meanwhile, Alex's former boss, Javier (Jeremy Fernandez), is not happy that Alex has decided to go his own way and starts to threaten him and his loved ones. Alex realizes that he needs to step up his game if he wants to survive and hires a young Filipino hitman named Ben (Joel-Ryan Armamento) as his assistant. Ben is an expert in martial arts and helps Alex improve his skills in combat.

As Alex and Ben start to take on more and more jobs, they soon become the talk of the town, and their reputation starts to spread. However, their success comes at a cost, and they start to make enemies of other rival gangs and hitmen. Alex also finds himself caught in a love triangle with Maria and one of his clients, the beautiful and seductive Isabella (played by Daniella Correa).

Amateur Hitman is a well-produced comedy thriller, with plenty of humor and action. The film's strength lies in its two lead actors, Luis Avilez and Joel-Ryan Armamento, who deliver solid performances and have excellent on-screen chemistry. The supporting cast does a good job, but it is Avilez and Armamento who steal the show.

The film's direction by Stanley M. Brooks is tight, and the pacing is just right. The script by Scott Michael Walker is witty and engaging and does an excellent job of balancing the comedic and the dramatic elements of the film. The cinematography by Luis David Sansans is excellent, capturing the grit and grime of the New York city streets, and the music by Alvaro Martinez is appropriately moody and atmospheric.

In conclusion, Amateur Hitman is an entertaining and engaging comedy thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is a film that is easy to enjoy and is perfect for a night in with friends. The film's excellent cast, direction, and script make it one of the better independent films of recent years.
