Antaraal, directed by Arjunn Dutta, is a Bengali language film released in 2013. The movie stars Saayoni Ghosh, Harsh Chhaya, and Debashree Roy in the lead roles. The story revolves around a dysfunctional family and their intertwined lives. The movie starts by introducing us to the family of Anoop (Harsh Chhaya), who is a successful writer based in Mumbai but hails from Kolkata. Anoop is a man who is aloof from his wife and daughter and drinks heavily. His wife, Swati (Debashree Roy), is a highly emotional woman who is always looking for attention from her husband. Their daughter, Anwesha (Saayoni Ghosh), is a talented classical dancer who is caught between her love for her father and her desire to become independent.

One day, Anoop receives a call from Kolkata, informing him that his father has passed away. Anoop, Swati, and Anwesha travel to Kolkata to attend the funeral. Here, Anwesha meets her uncle, Alok (Biplab Dasgupta), who is a successful businessman. Anwesha is attracted to Alok's confident and charming personality, and the two start spending time together.

Meanwhile, Anoop finds out that his father has left behind a will that divides the family's assets equally among Anoop, his brother Rajat (Sagnik Chowdhury), and his sister Mohini (Sohini Sengupta). But the will also has a condition that the three siblings have to agree upon everything collectively. The three siblings do not get along, and the will becomes a source of conflict among them.

Anoop, on the other hand, reconnects with his childhood friend, Krishnendu (Arindam Sil), who is a journalist. Krishnendu's wife, Ruma (Debleena Dutt Mukherjee), is Swati's college friend. The two couples share a history, and their conversations trigger memories of the past, leading to an emotional reunion.

As the story progresses, we see the characters struggling to find their place in the family and in life. Anwesha is torn between her love for her father and her desire to become independent. Swati yearns for her husband's attention but is constantly disappointed. Anoop is battling with his alcoholism and trying to come to terms with his past. Rajat and Mohini's animosity towards Anoop is revealed as we dig deeper into their past.

The movie is a slow burn that explores the complex dynamics of a dysfunctional family. The director does a great job of slowly unraveling the characters' backstory, taking the audience on an emotional journey. The performances by the lead actors are also top-notch, especially Saayoni Ghosh, who shines as Anwesha.

The music of the film is another highlight, with the songs perfectly complementing the mood and setting of the scenes. The cinematography is also excellent, capturing the essence of Kolkata and Mumbai perfectly.

Overall, Antaraal is a compelling drama that delves deep into the human psyche and explores the complexities of relationships. The movie is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys character-driven dramas.
