This macabre, often hilarious comedy offers a fictional account of one man who suffers from a rare but very real psychiatric disorder that causes those it infects to become obsessed with the idea of losing parts of their body. Called body integrity identity disorder, this condition afflicts a small number of people, but those it touches often pursue desires to amputate one or more arms or legs in an effort to feel, ironically, whole again.

The film's main character leaves his family behind to head to New York City in order to find a doctor who will remove his arms, even though he suffers from no physical condition that would make the process necessary.
