Dr. Herbert West has been serving a prison sentence for the past 13 years as one of the zombies he created using his reanimation techniques committed a series of murders. Trapped in jail has not stopped Dr. West from continuing his reanimation experiments and creating a brand new process for extracting nano plasmic energy from a living creature and using it to reanimate a deceased one. Dr. Howard Phillips arrives at the prison to be the new doctor and is immediately drawn to Dr. West and his research, going so far as smuggling in the equipment needed to continue his work.
