This Indian Hindi drama film was released in theaters in 2012. Based on true events, the film tells the story of a woman who tried to leave an abusive prearranged marriage. After being captured and put on trail for attempting to escape, she was sexually assaulted by the village council members. Now in jail for murdering her husband, it has been revealed that her husband actually helped the council members sexually assault his own wife. The film sends a strong message on the status of woman in India, where abuse and prearranged marriages are still very common.
