In "Black Man White Skin", director Habib Selmi tells the story of a young Tunisian man named Ali Belhaj. Ali is a talented musician who dreams of becoming a successful rapper. But in a country where racism is still prevalent, Ali's dark skin makes it difficult for him to gain recognition. The movie is set in the aftermath of the Tunisian revolution, which overthrew the authoritarian government of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. Ali sees the revolution as a sign of hope for Tunisia, and believes that it will help to end the discrimination he faces on a daily basis.

But despite his optimism, Ali finds that he still faces many challenges. He struggles to find a job and is often discriminated against because of his skin color. Even his own family members are ashamed of his dark complexion, and his father encourages him to use skin lightening creams to improve his chances of success.

Ali's music career is equally challenging. He performs at local bars and clubs, but is constantly overlooked for gigs and recording contracts in favor of lighter-skinned artists. He even faces harassment from the police, who automatically assume that he is a troublemaker because of his appearance.

The movie also explores the relationship between Ali and his girlfriend, Leila. Leila is a white Tunisian woman who comes from a more privileged background than Ali. She is supportive of Ali's music career, but also struggles to understand the discrimination he faces because of his skin color.

Throughout the movie, Ali's frustration with the status quo grows, and he becomes more politically active. He becomes involved in protests against racial discrimination and speaks out against the government and social norms that continue to perpetuate it. But as tensions rise, he begins to fear for his safety.

Overall, "Black Man White Skin" is a powerful and thought-provoking movie that sheds light on the issue of racial discrimination in North Africa. It is a compelling portrait of a young man who refuses to be silenced, and who fights to have his voice heard in a society that seeks to silence him because of his skin color.
