Black Rock is an independent film that was created by husband and wife duo Katie Aselton, the director, and Mark Duplass, the writer of the screenplay. The film is notable for having Iraqi War Veterans as the central protagonists and also because the husband and wife team has been known, mainly, for primarily comedic efforts in the past. The story of the film revolves around three close childhood friends whom go to a remote island in Maine to reconnect and have a ladies weekend getaway. The enjoy the landscape and ruminate on their past and celebrate, but these jovial interludes are cut short by the appearance of three hunters whom have old ties to the three women. It is later discovered that these men are Iraqi War veterans whom have been dishonorably discharged and when their advances upon the women fail they turn their attentions from the islands teeming game towards the three women who prove to be far more resourceful than appearances would attest.
