Blue Hawaii, starring Elvis Presley and produced by Hal Wallis, was filmed in some of the most beautiful areas of Hawaii. It's a light hearted romantic comedy in which Elvis showed the world that he had talent as a comedic actor in addition to his well known musical talent. When Elvis's character, Chad, was discharged from the Army, his parents assumed he would come to work in the fruit factory that his father owned. However, he had other ideas, consisting mostly of hanging out on the beach with his surfing buddies. The budding romance between Chad and Maile struggles down a rocky path as circumstances seem to conspire against them. Amidst the background of Waikiki Beach, the music of Elvis captures the hearts of all, even Maile's elderly grandmother.
