Bucket is a 2014 independent drama film directed by Scottish filmmaker, Paul Katis. The film follows the emotional struggles of a young man, Ray (played by David Elliot), who is dealing with the recent loss of his older brother, Steve. The movie is set in a small fishing village in Scotland and features stunning landscape shots of the area.

Ray has always lived in the shadow of his older brother and is struggling to come to terms with the fact that Steve is gone. He finds solace in taking his brother's boat out on the sea and going fishing. Steve was a well-known and successful fisherman in the village and the locals are quick to offer their condolences to Ray, but this only makes him feel worse. His best friend, Ryan (played by Paul Brannigan), tries to help him through his grief but Ray is consumed by his own guilt and sadness.

As the days pass, Ray becomes increasingly distant from friends and family. He spends more and more time on the boat and begins to fish further and further away from the shore. Ryan is worried about his friend and tries to intervene, but Ray is not interested in talking about his feelings. One day, while out at sea, Ray catches a bucket in his fishing net. The bucket has a letter inside addressed to Steve. Ray opens the letter and reads it, realizing that it was written by his brother years ago. The letter contains a list of things that Steve wanted to accomplish in his life and Ray is struck by how little he knew about his brother's hopes and dreams.

Inspired by the letter, Ray begins to work his way through Steve's bucket list. He starts by fixing up the old boat, which had fallen into disrepair. Ryan helps him with the repairs and the two friends work together, a welcome distraction for Ray. The next item on the list is to catch a specific type of fish that Steve had never managed to catch. Ray becomes obsessed with catching the fish and spends every waking moment out at sea. He begins to talk to Steve as if he were still there, confiding in him about his struggles and seeking his brother's guidance.

As Ray works his way through the bucket list, he begins to come to terms with his grief. He realizes that Steve's death has given him the opportunity to live his own life and pursue his own dreams. Ryan is there to support him through the tough times and the two become even closer as they work on the boat and go fishing together.

The movie is a poignant exploration of grief and the process of coming to terms with the loss of a loved one. The stunning Scottish scenery adds to the melancholic atmosphere and the understated performances from the cast make the emotions feel even more real. The film shows how small moments, like finding a bucket in a fishing net, can have a profound impact on someone's life.

Overall, Bucket is a beautifully shot and emotionally resonant film that explores the universal themes of loss and the search for meaning. It is a touching tribute to the power of friendship and the importance of pursuing one's dreams.

Bucket is a 2017 comedy with a runtime of 15 hours.
