Conspiracy Theory is a 1997 action-thriller movie directed by Richard Donner, and written by Brian Helgeland. The movie stars Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts, and Patrick Stewart and revolves around the character of Jerry Fletcher (Mel Gibson) who develops an obsession with conspiracy theories, leading him to think that there is always more to the stories than what meets the eye.

Jerry Fletcher is a New York City taxi driver who is very passionate about his theories on various world events, like the assassination of President Kennedy, and the moon landing being fake. He publishes a newsletter that he mails to 5 people, one of whom is Alice Sutton (Julia Roberts), an attorney at the Department of Justice.

Alice, who is initially annoyed by Jerry's constant interruptions, starts to pay attention to his theories when two other subscribers of Jerry's newsletter are found dead. Meanwhile, Jerry has a chance encounter with a government officials (Patrick Stewart) who he believes is responsible for a vast conspiracy.

As the movie progresses, Jerry's obsession with conspiracy theories becomes more intense, and he starts to believe that the government is after him. Alice begins to realize that there might be some truth to Jerry's theories when she is kidnapped along with him and is taken to a remote location where she is interrogated about her involvement with Jerry.

The story takes a surprising turn as the true motives of the government officials behind the conspiracy are revealed, and the movie ends on an intense and action-packed note.

One of the main themes of the movie is paranoia and how it can be both dangerous and justified. Jerry's obsession with conspiracy theories is seen as a weakness at first, but as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that he might have been on to something all along.

The movie is packed with action, suspense, and a lot of twists and turns that will keep the audience hooked throughout. Mel Gibson's performance as Jerry is intense and convincing, and Julia Roberts' role as Alice provides a much-needed grounding to the story.

Another key element of the movie is the romantic subplot between Jerry and Alice. While it might seem like an unnecessary distraction from the main plot, their chemistry and bond provide a relatable and emotional anchor to the story.

Overall, Conspiracy Theory is an engaging and thrilling movie that will keep the audience on the edge of their seats. It is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys action-thrillers and conspiracy theories.

Conspiracy Theory is a 2014 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 19 minutes.
