"Cosmos Global Documentaries: Ceylon" is about Ceylon or Sri Lanka, the island south of India. Its capital, Colombo, has characteristics that show both Western and Eastern influences. Like the rest of the country, it has a multicultural population dominated by the Singhalese. An elephants' orphanage is along the road between Colombo and Kandy. It currently cares for about 80 animals, most of whom were orphaned by poachers. The documentary also describes Ceylonese tea, which is famous for its quality and is therefore used in many blends.
