The ranchers decide to hire Gene Autry (playing himself), a famous singing cowboy, to help them out.

Gene arrives in Red Creek with his trusty horse Champion and his sidekick Frog Millhouse (played by Pat Buttram). Gene also meets and falls in love with Judy Canova (played by Gail Davis), the daughter of one of the ranchers. Judy is a talented singer and Gene convinces her to perform with him at a local dance to raise money for the ranchers. While performing, Gene and Judy are attacked by the Panther's men but manage to escape.

The attacks on the ranchers continue, and Gene and Frog are captured by the Panther's men. They manage to escape and learn that the Panther is actually a corrupt banker named Armitage (played by Francis Ford). Armitage has been stealing from the ranchers and using the money to fund his criminal activities.

Gene and Frog devise a plan to capture Armitage and the gang. With the help of the ranchers, they set a trap and manage to capture the Panther and his men. In the end, Armitage is sent to jail and the town is finally at peace.
