The year is 1969 and Paul Ballard (Jeremy Davies) is an editor working in Paris on Codename: Dragonfly, a sexy science fiction thriller. But Paul wants to make art, not cheesy scifi, and in the evenings he borrows the cameras and equipment to make a personal documentary project. The main production flounders under the helm of famous director Andrezej (Gérard Depardieu) who wants to make something artsy, and the executives in charge replace him with a hotshot young American director in the hopes that he can deliver a action packed box office hit. But as each man in turn falls in love with the beautiful lead actress Valentine (Angela Lindvall) the lines between the film world and the real one get blurred and Paul's life and relationship with his girlfriend get increasingly complicated.
