Danika is a US horror film examining the damage done to the human mind when a person undergoes an extreme trauma in their life. This 2006 film stars Oscar winner Marisa Tomei as the title character, Danika, who grows increasingly paranoid as a series of hallucinations begin to undermine her grip on reality. The movie begins with Danika working late in a bank attempting to correct some mistakes she made earlier in the day. As she works alone in her office a group of men enter the bank and attempt a robbery. In an attempt to turn off the security system they finally make their way to Danika's office. The robbery is quickly revealed to be a hallucination, prompting Danika to seek the help of her husband, Randy, and a psychiatrist, played by Regina Hall. As her hallucinations become more and more extreme the focus of the hallucinations shifts to her small children and the problems of kidnappings and sexually transmitted diseases. As the film builds to a climax Danika searches for what is real and how her past is affecting her mental state.
