Desert Gold, a Western movie released in 1936, is based on Zane Grey's novel of the same name. This movie features Buster Crabbe (Jim Lacy), Monte Blue (Maguey), and Leif Erickson (Yaqui). The story follows Jim Lacy, a Texas Ranger, as he heads to New Mexico to chase a ruthless criminal, Cash Holbrook (Tom Keene). Holbrook has two objectives - get his hands on the gold in the Uncertain Mine and get rid of anyone who tries to come in between him and his goal. Meanwhile, Maguey is purchasing cattle in Mexico and on his way back, gets attacked by Holbrook and his gang. Lacy comes to his aid, and together they head to Mescalero, a small town run by Holbrook's partner, Bull Herrick (Al Bridge).

Once in Mescalero, Lacy learns that Holbrook has his eye on a pretty young woman named Barbara Morgan (Marsha Hunt), who is visiting her uncle. Morgan's uncle owns the Uncertain Mine that Holbrook is trying to get his hands on. Lacy and Maguey team up with Yaqui, the old and wise Indian leader, who has a score to settle with Holbrook. Together, they try to prevent Holbrook and his men from capturing the mine.

As the story progresses, Lacy and Maguey find themselves in a series of life-threatening situations, including being captured by Holbrook's men and nearly dying in a sandstorm. Despite the challenges they face, they won't give up their pursuit of justice and preventing Holbrook from getting his hands on the gold. The movie builds up to a climax where Lacy, Maguey, and Yaqui try to take down Holbrook's men and prevent Holbrook from escaping.

Desert Gold is a classic Western movie with all the essential elements. It features cowboys, horses, gunfights, and of course, a damsel in distress. The movie captures the essence of the old West with its wide landscapes, saloons, and dusty towns.

Buster Crabbe's portrayal of Jim Lacy is impressive. He brings charm, humor, and bravery to the character. Monte Blue as Maguey brings a unique dimension to the movie with his humor and wit. Leif Erickson as Yaqui is a wise and stoic character who adds depth to the film. Marsha Hunt as Barbara Morgan is just as charming and determined as the male leads.

The movie's villain, Cash Holbrook, is played by Tom Keene. He puts on a solid performance as a cruel and greedy outlaw who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. The supporting cast, including Al Bridge as Bull Herrick, adds to the film's richness.

Desert Gold has a simple plot with a clear good vs. evil theme. It doesn't offer any unexpected twists or turns, but the movie is entertaining nonetheless. The good guys are clearly good, and the bad guys are easy to root against.

The movie's soundtrack is minimalistic, with the focus on the sound effects and the dialogue. The cinematography highlights the beauty of the desert, using various camera angles and shots to capture the vastness of the terrain.
