Destiny to Order is a 1989 Canadian romantic comedy-drama movie directed by Jim Purdy. The film tells the story of Peter (Stephen Ouimette), a quirky but lovable man with an obsession for tidiness and order. He is also a gifted book indexer who has helped many writers achieve great success in their careers. One day, while working on an index for his latest client, the beautiful and free-spirited Ji Su (Alberta Watson), Peter becomes smitten with her. Although she initially finds him strange, Ji Su is eventually won over by Peter's unique charm and the two fall in love.

However, their romance is not without its challenges. Ji Su's ex-boyfriend, a successful musician named Carlo (played by Bruno Gerussi), re-enters her life and tries to win her back. Meanwhile, Peter's ex-girlfriend, the feisty and unpredictable Fiona (Victoria Snow), is determined to sabotage his relationship with Ji Su.

As Peter and Ji Su navigate the ups and downs of their relationship, they also confront the realities of their own personal struggles. Peter is haunted by the memory of his mother's suicide and struggles with his own mental health issues, while Ji Su is running from her troubled past.

Destiny to Order is a heartfelt and quirky romantic comedy-drama with witty and engaging dialogue, charming characters, and a memorable soundtrack. The film explores themes of love, loss, mental illness, and the fragile nature of human relationships.

Stephen Ouimette delivers a standout performance as Peter, bringing a unique mix of humor, vulnerability, and depth to the character. Alberta Watson is also excellent as Ji Su, portraying her as both quirky and relatable. Victoria Snow, in her scene-stealing performance as Fiona, provides a much-needed dose of comic relief.

The film's cinematography is notable for its creative use of color and visual motifs. The production design is also noteworthy, with each character's living spaces reflecting their personalities and quirks.

Overall, Destiny to Order is a poignant and endearing film that will make you laugh, cry, and root for its lovable characters. Its themes are timeless and universal, and its message about the importance of embracing our quirks and imperfections is as relevant today as it was in 1989.
