Diamond Cartel is a 2015 action movie that earns its title from the cartel's attempts to dominate the diamond trade. Armand Assante plays a retired professional thief named Jack who has been living off the grid in Central Asia since his last score. After a chance encounter with a mysterious woman, Sonia (Karlygash Mukhamedzhanova), Jack discovers that a valuable diamond, known as the "Heart of Asia," is up for grabs, and the potential buyers are hot on the cartel's tail.

Jack, Sonia, and a ragtag group of criminals who are trying to reclaim their place in the diamond underworld must use every trick they have to outwit the power-hungry cartel, led by the ruthless Roman Hershel (Peter O'Toole). Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa plays one of Hershel's henchmen, a mysterious figure who may hold the key to defeating the cartel.

The movie takes place in a world where luxury and violence are intertwined, and the stakes are raised with every high-speed chase, explosion, and shoot-out. As the action unfolds, Jack must confront his own past and reconcile his passion for the thrill of the heist with his desire for a peaceful life. Sonia, too, must face her own demons and fight her way out of a life of servitude to the cartel.

The film is set against the backdrop of the vast and beautiful Central Asian steppe, with sprawling landscapes providing a contrast to the high-octane action. The local culture and customs are also given prominence, and the movie explores themes of belonging, displacement, and the search for identity.

The performances are strong, with Assante bringing his usual charm to the role of Jack. Mukhamedzhanova is a revelation, holding her own alongside experienced actors in a physically demanding role. O'Toole, in one of his final film roles, is a menacing presence, and his scenes with Tagawa are some of the movie's most memorable.

The action sequences are well choreographed and executed, showcasing the stunning landscape and the skill of the cast and crew. The film also incorporates humor and satire, with nods to the James Bond franchise and other action movies.

Overall, Diamond Cartel is a fast-paced, thrilling ride that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats. Its themes of culture clash, greed, and redemption give it depth beyond the standard action fare, and its stellar cast brings the characters to life in a way that sets it apart from other heist movies.

Diamond Cartel is a 2017 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 40 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 2.9.
