This film from India recounts a romantic story of love and parental interference. Parts of the drama occur in a coastal fishing community. A young man hopes to become an MBA. His parents (especially his mother, Chandrika) expect that he will marry soon and begin a family. However, he persuades them to allow him to remain in school. He falls madly in love with another student, a soft-spoken demure young woman. Both families object vehemently to the match. The young couple decide to elope together. The plot unfolds as they find themselves torn between their decision and their families' objections.
