Eddie the Sleepwalking Cannibal, directed by Boris Rodriguez, is a dark comedy horror movie that tells the story of a painter named Lars (Thure Lindhardt) who has hit a creative rut and has been struggling to produce new work. In an attempt to find inspiration, he accepts a teaching job at a small art school in a remote Canadian town.

Upon arriving, Lars is introduced to a simple and secluded community that is inhabited by a handful of odd characters, including his caregiver Leslie (Georgina Reilly), the school's director Ronny (Dylan Smith), and his student Eddie (Dylan Scott Smith). Eddie, a mute man in his 30s, has a rare sleepwalking disorder that leads him into uncontrollable fits of violence, which he usually can't remember the next day.

One day, Lars discovers Eddie sleepwalking and devouring a deer in the woods. Fascinated by the incident, Lars decides to use Eddie as inspiration for his new art pieces, which leads to them developing a strange and unlikely friendship. In hopes of channeling new artistic energy, Lars starts to intentionally cause Eddie's sleepwalking episodes by providing him with dead animals and even a human body.

As Eddie becomes more and more violent, Lars' obsession with using him as a subject for his art begins to spiral out of control, leading down a path of shocking revelations, bloody confrontations, and moral dilemmas.

The movie's unique concept of a sleepwalking cannibal as a muse for an artist is complemented by its visual elements which are both gruesome and beautiful. The picturesque surroundings of the Canadian wilderness contrast with brutal scenes of Eddie's cannibalistic tendencies, resulting in an interesting and paradoxical mood that underscores the entire film.

Throughout the movie, the audience is kept on the edge of their seats as the bizarre relationship between Lars and Eddie develops. Lars' gradual transformation from a struggling artist to a man obsessed with using Eddie's cannibalism as a tool for his art brings drama and tension to the story. The movie's use of dark humor also helps to lighten the mood and adds a layer of satirical commentary about the commodification of art and the relationship between artists and their subject matter.

The acting in the movie is commendable with Thure Lindhardt delivering an impressive performance as a tortured artist. He adeptly balances the character's initial desperation with the growing madness and obsession that ultimately leads him to questionable decisions. Georgina Reilly's character Leslie adds an important dimension to the story, and her no-nonsense attitude and loyalty to Lars make her a relatable and likable character. Dylan Smith's portrayal of Eddie, despite his mute character, is surprisingly expressive and brings out a range of emotions from the audience, especially in the violent sleepwalking scenes.

Overall, Eddie the Sleepwalking Cannibal is a twisted and entertaining horror-comedy that is sure to appeal to fans of both genres. Its unique storyline, visually stunning settings, great performances, and clever use of humor make it a memorable movie that will stay with the audience long after the credits have rolled.

Eddie The Sleepwalking Cannibal is a 2013 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.7 and a MetaScore of 57.
