This moving story is about the emotional consequences of three concentration camp survivors who meet decades later. They bonded during World War II while they were imprisoned in Dracey Internment camp, and have all gone on to live mostly normal lives. Melanie and Sydney were two orphaned children when they were in the camp and Jacob Bronski helped them to survive the often-brutal camp. When the three meet again, it brings up memories and issue that they have all tried to deal with in different ways, and helps Melanie's husband and son to understand her and her past, bringing them all closer together.
