Familiye is a 2017 German-Turkish drama film directed by Sedat Kirtan, who co-wrote the screenplay with Kubilay Sarikaya. The movie follows the life of an immigrant family living in Germany, struggling to reconcile their traditional Turkish values with the realities of modern society. The story revolves around the Kryeziu family, Albanian immigrants who moved to Germany in the 1980s seeking a better life. The patriarch of the family, Fahri (Sedat Kirtan), is a hard-working man who owns a small grocery store in Berlin. Fahri is married to Neriman (Aysel Iscan), and they have three children - the eldest son, Burhan (Ridvan Kirtan), the middle son, Kadir (Kubilay Sarikaya), and a daughter, Ayse (Ilayda Akdogan).

Burhan and Kadir are two very different individuals. Burhan, the eldest son is a street-smart young man who dreams of becoming a rapper. He feels trapped in his father's expectations of him to take over the family business, and he constantly clashes with Fahri. On the other hand, Kadir is a sensitive and introverted young man who struggles with mental health issues. He spends most of his time at home, drawing and listening to music.

The movie begins with a tragic event - the accidental death of Fahri's younger brother. The event brings Fahri's estranged brother, Ismail (Muhammed Kirtan), back into their lives. Ismail is a wealthy businessman who left his family behind to pursue his ambitions. Fahri and Ismail's relationship is strained, and the tension between them is palpable.

As the family comes together to mourn their loss, they begin to face the realities of their situation. Fahri's business is struggling, and Burhan's rap career is not taking off. Also, Kadir's mental health takes a turn for the worse. Furthermore, Fahri and Ismail have to deal with their unresolved issues from the past.

Despite their differences, the family members try to support each other through their struggles. When Kadir's condition worsens, the family rallies behind him to get him the help he needs. They also come together to support Burhan in his dreams of becoming a rapper. Similarly, Fahri and Ismail try to put their differences aside and reconcile.

Familiye is a beautifully shot and emotive drama that explores the complex dynamics of a family trying to navigate their way through life in a foreign land. The movie highlights the challenges of being a second-generation immigrant, trying to reconcile the traditions and values of their parents' culture with their own aspirations and desires.

One of the movie's most significant themes is the importance of family, even when things get tough. Despite their differences, the Kryeziu family members never hesitate to support each other when they need it most. They prove that even though they may have different dreams and aspirations, they share a bond that cannot be broken.

Overall, Familiye is an engaging drama that is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. The movie boasts excellent performances from its cast, with Sedat Kirtan, Ridvan Kirtan, and Kubilay Sarikaya delivering standout performances as the patriarch and his two sons. The film is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the bonds that bind us together as a family.
