Fist and Faith is a Chinese action drama that takes place in the year 2008, just before the Beijing Olympics. The film follows the story of Ma Fei (Oho Ou), a young man who lives in a poor neighborhood in Beijing. Ma Fei is the leader of a gang of street kids who use parkour to navigate through the city and evade the police. Ma Fei's life changes when he meets a girl named Ling Ling (Jing Tian). Ling Ling is a member of a Christian church and she introduces Ma Fei to Christianity. Ma Fei is initially skeptical of Christianity, but after he witnesses the church's kindness and compassion towards its members, he becomes more interested in learning about the religion.

However, Ma Fei's gang is engaged in a turf war with a rival gang led by a man named Brother Shan (Qiao Zhenyu). Brother Shan is a ruthless gangster who is willing to resort to violence to maintain his territory. Ma Fei tries to keep his gang out of the conflict, but he soon realizes that it is inevitable that the two gangs will clash.

As the Olympics approach, tensions between the two gangs continue to escalate. Ma Fei has to confront his own moral code as he tries to protect his friends and his neighborhood from the violence. Ling Ling, who has become an important figure in Ma Fei's life, provides him with guidance and support as he struggles to find a way out of the conflict.

The film is directed by Jiang Zhuoyuan, who has previously directed the critically acclaimed films Operation Mekong and Operation Red Sea. Fist and Faith is a departure from Zhuoyuan's usual action films, as it focuses more on the characters and their interpersonal relationships. The film features stunning parkour scenes that were choreographed by Parkour Generations, a world-renowned parkour group.

One of the strengths of Fist and Faith is the acting. Jing Tian, who plays Ling Ling, delivers a strong and nuanced performance. Her character is compassionate and empathetic, and she serves as a moral compass for Ma Fei. Oho Ou, who portrays Ma Fei, gives a convincing portrayal of a young man who is trying to find his place in the world. He brings a vulnerability to the character that makes him easy to root for.

The film also has a strong message about the power of faith and how it can transform lives. The church in the film is portrayed as a safe haven for those who have been marginalized by society. The church's members are shown to be kind, loving, and compassionate, which contrasts with the violent and ruthless nature of the gangs.

Overall, Fist and Faith is a well-crafted film that combines action and drama in an engaging way. The film's themes of hope, faith, and love make it a must-see for anyone who is interested in exploring the human experience.

Fist and Faith is a 2017 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 39 minutes.
