She convinces her friends Jamie (James Norton), Sophia (Kiersey Clemons), Ray (Diego Luna), and Marlo (Nina Dobrev) to participate.

The experiment involved stopping the heart for a few minutes and then reviving the subject. As each of the students undergoes the experiment, they experience a range of strange, supernatural events. Initially, the students are amazed and astonished by their newfound mental capacities. They become smarter, brighter, and more perceptive.

However, things take a dark turn when they soon realize that their actions have consequences, and their brushes with death have awakened entities that they can not control. Nightmarish visions begin to haunt them, making them question whether they have crossed a line that should never be crossed.

The movie does an excellent job of exploring the theme of mortality, exploring the afterlife, and the human yearning to know what comes next after death. The storyline is well-thought-out, and the narrative is tense and thrilling. The movie is engaging, with enough twists and turns to keep audiences intrigued from the opening credits to the final scene.

The performances from all the actors are outstanding. Ellen Page is the standout performer amongst the cast, delivering a powerful and emotional portrayal of a woman who is trying to make amends for her past mistakes. Diego Luna is also impressive as Ray, the voice of reason in the group.

The cinematography and visual effects are top-notch, with the movie making excellent use of color and lighting to create an eerie, unsettling mood. The sound design is also worthy of note, as it adds to the sense of tension and suspense.
