Director Peter Jackson hosts this staged comedy documentary about a fictional movie director from the early days of silent cinema, Colin McKenzie. Using films Jackson claims to have found in a shed in New Zealand, McKenzie is revealed to be the inventor of color and sound movies and one of the greatest directors in the history of cinema. A number of clips are shown from the work of McKenzie and some of the greatest directors and critics of cinema appear to discuss the work of McKenzie.
