Divided into three parts, Living in Oblivion tells three stories about the same group of people trying to film an independent movie. In the first story, the catering crew are underpaid and put little effort into their work, not caring if people get sick from spoiled food, as the director struggles to shoot a film scene while actors flub lines and the crew make amateur mistakes such as letting the boom mic enter the shot and not focusing the camera correctly. The second story follows the film’s actress Nicole after she sleeps with one of the actors and has to act with him the next day. Things get complicated when she tells the actor she doesn’t want to pursue a relationship with him and he starts making things difficult as they shoot a scene together. The final story is about the crew trying to shoot a dream sequence and the director and Nicole trying to apply the lessons they learned from the previous events.
