F/X 2 is a thrilling crime drama and a sequel to the 1986 film, F/X. Directed by Richard Franklin, the movie stars Bryan Brown, Brian Dennehy, and Rachel Ticotin in leading roles. The plot is centered around the life of a special effects artist named Rollie Tyler (Bryan Brown) who retired from the movie industry and started a special effects company in New York City. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when he becomes entangled in a dangerous plot involving a corrupt government agency, hired assassins, and a stolen weapon.

The movie opens with Rollie Tyler living a peaceful life with his girlfriend, Kim (Rachel Ticotin), and her son, Chris (Cody Glenn). However, his life is soon disrupted when his former colleague from the movie industry, Leo McCarthy (Brian Dennehy), comes to him for help. Leo is now working for the Justice Department as a private investigator and is investigating a corrupt government agency. He wants Rollie to create a fake assassination attempt on a senator who is being targeted by the agency, to prove that their security system is flawed. Rollie initially refuses Leo's request but agrees to help him after he is threatened by the agency's henchmen.

Rollie creates a special effects simulation of the assassination attempt, but things go south quickly when the senator is actually shot with a real bullet. Panic ensues as they try to find the people responsible for the failed attempt on the senator's life. Rollie and Leo end up being targeted by the same people and are now on the run for their lives. Rollie's special effects skills come in handy as they try to evade the assassins and solve the mystery of who hired them.

Rachel Ticotin's character also has a significant role in the plot, and her performance adds depth to the storyline. The movie's climax is an intense and gripping showdown that leaves the audience on the edge of their seats.
