After winning big in the stock markets during the late 1920s, John Hart is approached by Phil Stuart, a reporter who believes the stock market will soon crash. John tosses a lucky coin and decides to sell his stocks based on the result. Phil publishes his notions about the coming stock market crash and credits John. When the market does crash, John is seen by many as a financial expert. He is approached by unethical lawyers and decides to take part in some seedy deals. When a man he has some dealings with commits suicide, however, the man's daughter, Marcia, seeks revenge.
