This biographical drama tells the story of one of the heroes of the Roman Catholic Church, Cardinal Josef Mindzhenty. He was a vocal critic of both the Nazi occupation of Hungary, as well as of the Communist regime that followed the departure of the Nazis. Mindzhenty was arrested and tortured for his dissension. After his eventual release, he had to avoid his persecutors by taking refuge in the US Embassy located in Budapest, where he lived for many years. From the Embassy, he continued to speak out against the Russian and Communist occupation of Hungary.
