Hard to Be God is a Russian science fiction film where historians from Earth are living on a planet that is going through a time similar to the Middle Ages. They are pretending to be average people; however, the main character does not approve of the way of life of the natives of the planet. The historians are forbidden from interfering with the way things are done on the planet. They are only allowed to help a small group of people who they see as different and who could potentially benefit the planet through their thoughts and ideas.
