On a balmy night in Texas in 1989, Richard Dane is investigating strange noises in his home when he comes across low life burglar Freddy Russell. Richard Dane shoots and kills Freddy Russell, turning himself into an instant local hero. His new found fame becomes a problem, however, when Freddy's father arrives in town. Ben is hell bent on getting some kind of revenge for his son. With the arrival of Ben Russell and other factors at work, it isn't long before Richard Dane's life begins to spiral out of control. The twists and turns of this film pile up on a plot already rife with corruption and tense emotions. Cold in July was directed by Jim Mickle and written by Nick Damici. Richard Dane is played by Michael C. Hall, Sam Shepard portrays Ben Russell, and Wyatt Russell plays Freddy Russell. Vinessa Shaw and Don Johnson also star in this film.
