Home Run is about Cory Brand, a professional baseball player who is losing everything one bad decision at a time. On the field Cory is a super star. Off the field he is an alcoholic with anger issues who can't stay out of trouble for longer than a few weeks. Cory finds himself suspended from the Denver Grizzlies, stuck in his hometown and forced to go to twelve step meetings for eight weeks. Cory's agent finds him the only available 12-step program, Celebrate Recovery. He is also forced to coach the Bull Dogs a little league team that is coached by his high school sweetheart. When Cory arrives in his hometown, he has no plans to change anything. He just wants to complete the mandatory meetings and move on until he realizes what he was missing by running away from his problems. While coaching the baseball team Cory sees for the first time that he can do something good for someone else. He starts to see how giving to the kids is more rewarding than taking everything he can out of life. He also sees the people around him in a different light for the first time when he finds out about abuse that they suffered as children. Cory is kicked off the baseball team after saying "no" to his agent for the first time during his whole career so that he can attend the Bull Dogs game. He hits rock bottom when he realizes for the first time that he cannot quit drinking, he lost his career and that he has nowhere else to turn but to the ministry leader of Celebrate Recovery. This realization turns out to be the new beginning he needs to change his life and to be the man that he wants to be. With this new hope, Cory gets a contract to play on another team, stays in the 12 step program and learns how live life without alcohol. The change in Cory's life fully realized when his high school sweetheart allows him to be part of her and her son's lives. Cory knows that the transformation in his life is becoming evident to those he hurt the most.
