House Arrest is a 2019 Indian Netflix Original film that tells an amusing story about a man who is determined to stay inside his house to avoid the troubles of the outside world. Starring Ali Fazal, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Jim Sarbh, the film is directed by Shashanka Ghosh and Samit Basu. The plot of House Arrest revolves around Karan (Ali Fazal), a young man who lives alone in a large apartment in Mumbai. Karan has a safe, secure, and self-contained life in his home, and he prefers it that way. He has everything he needs inside his small abode - food, entertainment, and a stable income from his YouTube channel. He is so happy in his little world that he avoids going out and interacting with the outside world as much as possible.

However, Karan's life takes an unexpected turn when his neighbor, Pinky (Shriya Pilgaonkar), comes knocking on his front door. Pinky is a bubbly and outgoing young woman who loves to party and have fun. She invites Karan to a party at her place, which he reluctantly accepts. Reluctant to leave his comfort zone, Karan makes it into the party just to take a few photos for his YouTube channel, but he ends up accidentally getting drunk.

After a few more wild nights out, Karan finally realizes he has blown through all his savings. So, he decides it's time to put a stop to his spending and lock himself up in his apartment once and for all. His parents end up coming over to check on him and while he is checked in with an ex-girlfriend who is also his therapist. Meanwhile, his best friend JD (Jim Sarbh) and Pinky are trying everything to get him out of his apartment.

The cinematography is noteworthy as the major portion of the movie is shot inside the house, and the camera is used to capture the dynamics and nuances of the relationship between each character. The film takes place mostly in Karan's quiet apartment filled with mundane items that seem to have acquired lives of their own in the years since their purchase. The scenes depict the gradual deterioration of Karan's mental health, slowly pacing towards the end of the film.

The performances in this movie are strong across the board, as Ali Fazal, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Jim Sarbh all impress with their respective portrayals.

In conclusion, House Arrest is an entertaining movie that offers plenty of amusement and laughs. Moreover, the movie offers a pleasant commentary on our generation's addiction to digital platforms like YouTube and social media. A must-watch for anyone who enjoys comedies or wants to explore a new and exciting genre of movies.
