Kid recently lost his father played by the late Robin Harris and is preparing to go off to college. Financially he is struggling but with the help of the church he has the money that he needs in order to attend. Play, Kids best friend drives him to his dorm, but when Kid gets all of his things out of the car, he inadvertently leaves his tuition check in the car. Play who has aspirations of getting involved in the music industry finds Kid's check. When play gets an opportunity to finance his musical dream he uses kid's tuition check to do so. Kid has to then come up with a way to pay his tuition, so he can stay in school. He gets a job in the cafeteria but it's not enough. Play has the idea to throw an unauthorized pajama party on school premises, which could get kid thrown out of school. Their rival enemies, played by Bow Legged Lou, Paul Anthony, and B-Fine are campus security and make it their mission to find and bust up their party. Kid gets little support from his high school girlfriend Sidney, whose character is played by Tisha Campbell. They decide to see other people and despite all of the advice given from new found friend Zora, she ends up with a guy with ill intentions. Zora, whose character is played by Queen Latifah is Sidney's new roomate and is a militant activist for womens rights. The pajama party is held and has a great turn out, everybody on campus knows where the party is except for campus security who spend most of their time running in circles. They eventually get busted and Kid has to face the music.
