Hum Kaun Hai is a 2004 Bollywood horror-thriller film, directed by Ravi Shankar Sharma and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dimple Kapadia, and Dharmendra in lead roles. The film is a remake of the 1963 American horror film, The Haunting, and revolves around a family living in an old mansion, which is haunted by an unseen entity. The film begins with a married couple, Sandhya (Dimple Kapadia) and Avinash (Dharmendra), along with their two children, daughter Anjali (Mansi Jhingran) and son Sunny (Hansika Motwani), moving into a sprawling old mansion in an isolated area. While the children are excited to explore their new home, Sandhya is apprehensive about the strange noises and occurrences that are happening in the house.

Soon, they receive a visitor in the form of a mysterious man named Dr. Aditya Shrivastav (Amitabh Bachchan), who claims to have been sent by the previous owner of the house to check on the family's welfare. While Avinash is pleased to have someone to talk to, Sandhya's suspicions about the stranger grow when she notices his strange behavior and strange things continue to happen in the house.

As the family's fears mount, they discover the tragic history behind the mansion and its previous occupants, including a young girl who died under mysterious circumstances. With the help of Dr. Shrivastav, they begin to uncover the secrets of the house and piece together the unsettling events that have taken place.

The film has some thrilling and suspenseful moments and also includes some of the classic horror movie tropes, such as creaky doors, creepy music, and spooky shadows. However, the plot is somewhat predictable and does not offer any surprises or plot twists. The talented cast gives solid performances, with Amitabh Bachchan in particular standing out in his role as the mysterious stranger.

The film also includes some supernatural elements, such as ghosts and spirits, but these are not explored in great depth and instead serve mainly as plot devices to create tension and suspense. The production design and cinematography of the film are noteworthy, with the old mansion serving as an atmospheric and haunting backdrop for the story.

Overall, Hum Kaun Hai is a decent attempt at a horror-thriller film, but it doesn't quite live up to its potential. While it has some effective scares and a talented cast, it falls short on originality and depth. Despite this, it remains an entertaining watch for fans of the genre.
