Small-town dreamer Louise Ginglebusher arrives in New York City with big show business ambitions. She gets a job as an usherette at a prestigious music hall, where powerful tycoon J. Conrad Nelson notices her. But Louise only has eyes for George Prescott, a struggling and earnest young lawyer. To discourage Nelson and help George, she tells a small lie that quickly leads to amusing complications.
