Interview is a Dutch movie, released in 2003, directed by Theo van Gogh. The film is a remake of the 2000 movie, also directed by van Gogh, with the same name, based on the same play by Theo van Gogh and Theodor Holman. The movie features Katja Schuurman, Pierre Bokma, and Theo Maassen in leading roles. The story of the movie revolves around Pierre Peders (Pierre Bokma), a has-been journalist who is sent to interview Katya (Katja Schuurman), a famous actress, for a magazine. Pierre is not enthusiastic about the assignment, as he considers Katya to be nothing more than a shallow, self-centered celebrity. On the other hand, Katya is also not eager to talk to Pierre, as she has heard that he is a notoriously difficult interviewer.

As they start the interview, both Pierre and Katya quickly get on each other's nerves. However, as the interview progresses, they start to open up and reveal more about themselves than they intended to. The conversation soon turns into a verbal battle of wits and egos between the two, with each trying to one-up the other.

As the interview proceeds, Pierre starts to see Katya in a different light. He realizes that she is not just a glamorous actress, but a complex and intelligent woman who has faced her share of personal struggles. Similarly, Katya begins to see Pierre as more than just a grumpy journalist, but as a man who has also experienced pain and disappointment in his life.

The movie is shot entirely in black and white, which gives it a classic and timeless feel. The minimalistic set design and the close-ups of the characters' faces create a sense of intimacy and intensity, as if the viewer is eavesdropping on a private conversation.

The performances of the two lead actors are exceptional. Pierre Bokma portrays Pierre Peders as a bitter and cynical man, who is disappointed with life and himself. However, as the interview progresses, his character begins to soften, revealing a vulnerability that is both touching and relatable. Katja Schuurman, on the other hand, plays Katya as a confident and assertive woman, who is unafraid to speak her mind. However, as the interview progresses, her character begins to show cracks in her façade, revealing a more insecure and emotional side.

The dialogue of the movie is sharp and witty, with both characters exchanging clever one-liners and snappy comebacks. The conversation covers a wide range of topics, including love, relationships, politics, and religion. However, at the heart of the film is the theme of human connection and the power of communication. Despite their initial animosity, Pierre and Katya are able to find common ground and establish a bond through their conversation.

Overall, Interview is a captivating and entertaining movie that is both thought-provoking and emotionally resonant. The movie explores the complexity of human nature and the universal desire for connection and understanding. The superb performances of the two lead actors and the sharp and witty dialogue make the movie an engaging and enjoyable viewing experience.

Interview is a 2003 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.9.
