Specifically, Ralph "Petey" Greene worked as a community activist on his talk show program starting in 1996. The film also follows the story of his manager and friend Dewey Hughes. The film spans the time period between 1966 and 1984. Talk to Me was directed by Kasi Lemmons, and it was written by Michael Genet, Rick Famuyiwa, and Michael Genet. The character Ralph “Petey” Grene was played by Don Cheadle, and Dewey Hughes was played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. Talk to Me received a number of awards including African-American Film Critics Awards for best director, actor, and supporting actor.
