Into the Deep is a 1994 dramatic thriller film starring the talented actress Kate Nelligan. The film, directed by Michael Apted, follows the story of a woman named Ginny Grainger, who has just recently lost her husband in a tragic boating accident. The story begins with Ginny living a quiet life in a New England town, where she spends most of her time with her two young children.

Although she tries to remain strong for her children, Ginny is struggling to come to terms with her grief and to move on with her life. One day, she receives a package in the mail from a stranger, which contains a letter and a videotape. The letter is from a man named Guy Cooley, who claims to have evidence that her husband's death was not an accident, but rather a deliberate act of sabotage.

Ginny is initially skeptical of Guy's claims, but she decides to watch the videotape that he provided. To her shock and horror, the video shows her husband's boat being intentionally sunk by someone in a speedboat. Ginny realizes that Guy's claims are true, and she becomes determined to uncover the truth about her husband's death.

The rest of the film follows Ginny as she sets out to discover who was responsible for her husband's death. She enlists the help of a retired Coast Guard officer, played by veteran actor James Earl Jones, and together they begin to piece together the evidence. Their investigation takes them to the wealthy circles of Boston society, where they uncover a web of deceit and corruption.

Throughout the film, Kate Nelligan delivers a stunning performance as Ginny, perfectly capturing the character's grief, determination, and courage. She is supported by a talented cast that includes the likes of James Earl Jones, Polly Walker, and Michael Kitchen.

Director Michael Apted does an excellent job of building tension and suspense throughout the film, making it an engaging and thrilling watch. The cinematography is also noteworthy, with stunning shots of the New England coast and the bustling city of Boston.

Into the Deep is a well-crafted thriller that keeps the audience guessing until the very end. It's a story about love, loss, and the lengths we will go to uncover the truth. The film is a testament to the talent of its lead actress, Kate Nelligan, and a worthy addition to the thriller genre.
